This series, 100 Lost Hotels, originally started as a personal project based on a 1968 guide to Bournemouth that had belonged to my Grandmother. I was fascinated by the changes in Bournemouth since the book was published and I began to draw the hotels that no longer existed and link them to a photo of the plot as it stands today. Michael, from the Heritage section of Bournemouth Library, suggested it would make an interesting exhibition so I completed 100 drawings. I had them printed into postcard form and displayed them with illustrated maps and some quotes from hotel review sites. I gave a talk to introduce the exhibition and it was filmed by the BBC and appeared on South Today.
